2. VISITORS TO OUR WEBSITE
Data Collection: We do not track, profile, or collect any personal data from visitors searching our directory. Your browsing activity remains entirely anonymous.
Cookies: We do not use any marketing, tracking, analytics, or performance cookies. We deploy a single, functional first-party cookie strictly to remember your search preferences if you wish us to. Because this cookie is strictly necessary to deliver the functionality you have explicitly requested (saving your search criteria), it does not require your prior consent under UK PECR regulations. It does not store any personal data.
3. PAID SUBSCRIBERS
Data We Process: When you register and purchase a directory entry, we collect your account setup details (name, email address, billing information) and the text, images, or contact details you submit for your listing.
Lawful Basis & Purpose: Our lawful basis for processing your data is the performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR) to fulfill the directory service you are paying for.
Data Publication: All information you input into your directory profile is explicitly provided by you for public dissemination. By submitting this data, you acknowledge it will be visible to all website visitors.
Payment Security: Payment processing is handled securely by our third-party provider, Stripe. We do not store full credit card details on our servers.
Data Retention: We retain your subscriber account data for as long as your paid subscription remains active, and subsequently to comply with legal tax and accounting requirements.
4. YOUR RIGHTS
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access your data, rectify inaccuracies, or request deletion. Subscribers can update or suspend their public directory entry at any time when logged in, or have it deleted by contacting us at contact@humaneditors.org.
